[SECTION 01 // THE ORIGIN]
In March of 1989, a photojournalist captured a photograph of a young girl walking in the rain. The next morning it appeared on the center of the front page. It was titled “Rain girl.” The caption explained how she had come prepared for the dampening drizzle.
I am her. She is me.
Rain Girl was a name bestowed upon me. The lens found me before I could even read the paper. It became a profound marker in my personal timeline. It was the exact coordinate in my own life where my childhood was split into a before and an after. A singular moment of truth immortalized on newsprint just before the world shifted.
The imagery was pure, unposed and recorded as an undisputed artifact of the public record. It proved the immense gravity a single image can hold. The power of the camera. It was real life preserved on newsprint and not a performance manufactured for an endless digital scroll.
Twenty years behind the lens later, this studio exists as a time portal to that exact 1990’s simplicity. I still reflect on what that image truly meant and how I have grown into the spirit of the name I was given.
My relationship with visual artifacts and cameras has been a lifelong journey for me. Their allure always felt like a sort of mythical gravity. My camera has forever been the most powerful instrument I have for both experiencing and processing life.

This studio operates outside of the digital surveillance algorithim. I do not generate images for the endless digital scroll. Not seeking to generate for the sake of staying fresh or relevant.
Rain Girl Studio is a time portal back to the privacy and simplicity of the 1990’s. Together we observe and chronicle the wholesome, the artifacts of your true existence in your home, your relationships, your hobbies, all of your domestic debris. You have permission to stop performing.
The result is an archive manufactured exlusively for your personal record. It is made to sit in your hands. It is made to live in your home library. It belongs solely to the people who inhabit the frame. Private, sacred and permanent.
